John Gubrud

John M. Gubrud, 75, of Johnston City, Illinois, passed away July 21, 2012. He was born in Spring Grove, Minnesota, February 16, 1937. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Tuley High School in Chicago. He was married to Rosemary Gubrud (nee Dinsmore), During his life, he was active in Freemasonry, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Scottish Rite, the York Rite, Medinah Shrine Patrol Unit and was a member of the Williamson County Shrine Club. He retired from the Chicago Police Department after 35 years and from the U.S. Army Reserve after 25 years. In recent years, John enjoyed reading about military history, watching Cubs games, playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his beloved dog, Archie. John is survived by his wife, Rosemary, his children and their spouses/partners, Ronald and his wife as Sandra (nee Buckman), Norine Carro and William Lancaster, Eric and his wife, Diane (nee Craig), Carolyn and partner, and William and his partner Jon Larson. Also he is survived by his sister, Luanne Lenick, former brother –in-law, Charles Koenig. His grandchildren, Nicole McChriston, John Nosek, III., Zachary, Andrea Carro, Albert Carro, Jr., and Mikayla. Finally, he is survived by his great grandchild, John Nosek, IV, his nieces and nephews, Steve, Anne, Trina, Beth, Marilyn and Scott and his great grand nephews P.J. and Matthew. Those who preceded him in death were his parents, Morris and Bernice (nee Watson), son, John Newell, and his granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Carro. Visitation with the family will be Muzyka and Son Funeral Home, 5776 W. Lawrence, Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, July 26, 2012, from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Masonic Funeral Service will be held at 8:00 pm. Pastor Joy Douglas-Strome will officiate at a Christian burial service at Muzyka and Son Funeral Home on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Acacia Park Cemetery. John 11:23-25 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again. Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
