Valentina Kosogof

Valentina Kosogof, age 95, of Crystal Lake, passed away Wednesday morning, November 30, 2022. She was born in Trostyanets, Sumy, Ukraine and the daughter of the late Mykhailo and Yustina Lopushok. She was the loving wife of the late Vasil; loving mother of Walter (Gina) Kosogof, Lena Rode, Lida (Walter) Marcyniuk, Olga (Alex) Pawlenko, John (Zoriana) Kosogof, and Alexandra Kosogof; cherished grandmother of Holly Kosogof, Christy (Patrick Marshall) Kosogof, Timothy (Melissa) Kosogof, Michael Rode, Dominick Rode, Tanya (Erik Gaspers) Benham, William (Laura McPherson) Marcyniuk, A’ndrea (Larry Kenney) Marcyniuk, Lisa Pawlenko, Matthew (Jennifer) Pawlenko, D’Anna (Daniel) Gaulin, Peter Kosogof, Daniel Kosogof, and Alison Kosogof; proud great-grandmother of Evan and Luke Marshall, Max and Mila Kosogof, Shannon Rode, Alexander, Connor, and Bryant Benham, Sebastian and Adrian Pawlenko, and Aaron Gaulin; and great-great grandmother of Anastasia Rode; dear sister of Tammy (the late Mike) Bilas, Peter (Carol) Lopushok, and Anna Federa; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Valentina was a proud Ukrainian -American, she leaves behind a legacy built on service to family, church and community. She was an active and long-time member of St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Church, a member of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, and Friends of ODUM. Valentina was an avid reader, gardener, crafter and seamstress. She also shared her love of cooking, baking and the holidays by hosting beautiful holiday parties for her family. She will be dearly missed, but her memory and her legacy of service will live on through her family and friends. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 4, 2022 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Muzyka & Son Funeral Home, 5776 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, with Panachyda (Wake Service) 7 p.m. Funeral Service Monday, December 5, 2022 10 a.m. at St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 6655 W. Higgins Rd., Chicago.
