Mary Jo Gore

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Mary Josephine (McNulty) Gore, following a brief illness. On Monday, March 6, 2023, Mary Jo passed peacefully from this world while asleep. She was 66 years old. Mary Jo was born on June 22, 1956, in Chicago, IL, to the late Gerald and Sally (Mongoven) McNulty. She was the oldest of seven children. She was a graduate of Elk Grove High School and Marquette University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in accounting. She worked as a CPA for many years, and was most recently employed at Christopher P. Iacullo & Co. for nearly 30 years. While a student at Marquette, Mary Jo met her husband, Theodore “Ted” Gore, through mutual friends. The two were married in 1979 and enjoyed 43 years of marriage. Also left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Megan Michenna, whom she loved beyond measure; her daughter-in-law Rikki Michenna; and her favorite grandson, Declan Michenna. Declan already misses playing monster trucks with Grandma, teaching her about dinosaurs, and swimming at the hotel when she came to visit. She will be deeply missed by her siblings: Anne Marie (Vic) Gagliano, Jack (Laurie) McNulty, Jerry (Kim) McNulty, Sally (Jim) Starshak, Sheila (Rick Lewandowski) Serafin, and Tom (Karen) McNulty. The 12 Days of Christmas will never sound the same. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law Nancy (Ray) Koch and Mary Kay Gore Shapiro, brothers-in-law Tim (Lucy) Gore and Bob Gore, and many nieces and nephews: Sean, Nicki, Amanda, Lauren, Claire, Phil, Dave, Mike, Taylor, Sam, Dean, Zac, Rob, Ken, Tommy, Jack, Julien, Josh, and Kristen, as well as all of their spouses and children. Mary Jo was an active member of the former Our Lady of Victory Parish before it closed its doors in 2021, where she was involved in many groups and committees. A faithful and steadfast Irish Catholic, Mary Jo’s faith was demonstrated by her genuine warmth, love, and kindness, as those who knew her can attest. She will forever be remembered for her gentle and unassuming nature, her love of reading, her crocheted gifts, and her enduring love for her family and friends. Services to celebrate the life of Mary Jo Gore will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 2pm to 8pm at Muzyka & Son Funeral Home located at 5776 West Lawrence Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60630, with a wake service at 6:30pm. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 10:30am at St. Pascal Catholic Church, located at 3935 N Melvina Ave, Chicago, IL, 60634. Interment to follow at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association at https://www.goredforwomen.org
