Magdalena Klingler

Magdalena “Omi” Klingler, age 91, of Chicago, passed away on March 11, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Matthias (1988); loving mother of Renate (Kim) Arman and Betsy (the late Tony) Symon; cherished grandmother of Taylor (Joe Babula) and Alex Arman; dearest sister of the late Helene (the late Mike) Maurer and the late Andreas (Marie) Keller; loved daughter of the late Stefan and the late Maria Keller. Magdalena was born in Yugoslavia and sailed to the USA as a young woman during World War II. It was here that she fell in love with Matthias, and they were married soon thereafter. She loved children and started a family, caring deeply for her daughters, nieces, and nephews. When her grandchildren were born, she cared for them for many years and did the same for her great nephews and niece. From an early age, gardening was a passion, from farm life to city living. Tomatoes and peppers were aplenty in her garden, which was always weedless from her daily care. Flowers of all sorts blossomed in the garden along the paths of her home. She was an avid knitter and crocheter, making tablecloths, doilies, and clothing for her daughters. She was well known for her house shoe slippers, which had soles made from old jeans. Later in life, she developed a passion for “painting”, as she referred to it, with colored pencils in her adult coloring books. Each page was filled with bright colors, and she made sure to stay within the lines. The love she shared with family and friends was unmatched by anyone we knew. She was known by many names, but everyone knew who Omi was. Reserved at first, she appeared shy, but soon won the hearts of many, always greeting you with her contagious smile. We’re thankful for our many years with her and will miss her always. Visitation from 3-8 PM on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Muzyka & Son Funeral Home, 5776 W. Lawrence Avenue, Chicago, IL 60630. Funeral Mass at 10 AM on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Parish, 4646 N. Austin Ave., Chicago, IL 60630. Private interment at St. Adalbert Cemetery at a future date.
